Enquiry requested on the impact on ecology of Attappadi by the proposed windfarm related Activities
by epgadminThe proposed wind farm project in Attappadi- Palakkad owned by Suzlon Company May lead to severe environmental and social problems based on the following points.
1. The windmills are installed in the highest points of hills.
2. So many hills and trees are cut and shattered for constructing new roads and other developments
3. So far there is no comprehensive study is conducted in this area regarding the effect of windmills which are on the path of bird movement especially migratory birds.
4. It is known that No study is also done about the wildlife movement in this locality where roads and buildings are constructed. (if such a problem rises, it will lead to new dimensions of man - animal conflict)
5. Lead to soil erosion due to wind and water
6. Lead to landslides (as the area is under seismic activity)
7. The goal and objectives of Attappadi Hill Area Eco restoration and Development programs done by the state government through AHADS will be defeated (Rupees 219 is invested for this crore project)
8. There is no enquiry or cross checking done on the land transactions made to Suzlon company (it is known that there is no proper land transaction happened and actual land value is obtained to the real land owner. Middle men or land transaction agents very much involved in this deal. Rupees hundreds worth land is purchased by land mafia and sold to the company for lakhs)
9. It is known that even tribal land is also under the possession of suzlon company.
10. From the name itself, Nallasinga, Kavundikkal, Kadambara area are tribal land where new developments will directly affect the socio-culture of the communities.
It is also known that some forest land is also encroached in this area and survey of such area is on the way by the forest department.
Based on the issue detailed enquiry is requested by the state government by WPSI, EPG etc. for taking necssary actions to stop to problems and protecting the ecology of Attappadi.
